| Casa Del Sol |
Well, we're home and we love it! We are feeling really blessed! So here's the deal, they call the place Casa Del Sol. The building is rental units with a sweet swimming pool and patio with BBQ for the residents. The whole back yard is docks on a canal known as Seminole Lake. As we backed into our slip we were greeted by a group of super friendly neighbors that also live aboard their boats! I can just imagine the fun we will have chillin' & grillin' with this group!
So after all the lines were adjusted I got to thinking. Man, how cool is it to live on a boat? Everybody should! To be able to just pull up anchor (or untie the dock lines), drive until you feel like stopping, drop anchor (or tie up to the next dock) and call it home is absolute freedom. Like snails we take our home with us wherever we go. There are so many places on our list of places to live aboard and Ft. Lauderdale has always been one of them for many reasons.
So, all in all it was a great trip up and we're happy.

Ahoy Felicity!
I am a lifelong sailboater (and at 54, that's been most of my LIFE) who is seriously considering "taking the plunge". Co-incidentially, I am looking at a Hatteras 53 pilothouse - either a '69 or a '73. Both are the NA's, so they are turtles but very comfortable. I live in Houston, but I'm planning to head east to Fla and from there to...Bahamas or north to Md. (yes it's $$$ but well, I'm nuts!) I DO need all of the knowledge that you post as I am a complete "newbie" (I do know how to run and dock a t/s boat, having spent every summer as a kid on the Chesapeake on a Chris-Craft 47 Commander). I look forward to reading your blog! Thanks.

Seth - Thanks for following along! It's not as hard as one might think, to "take the plunge". I have to say, it doesn't suck either. As I am writing this I'm sitting on the couch with an ice cold drink by my side. Oh, the sacrifices we make, ha! The whole power boat / sail boat thing is so ridiculous, what an ego trip. Once we got over that hump we wished would would have done it earlier! Hatteras has made such quality boats and they hold their value! Our motto, you can't take it ($$$) with you, so live now, go cruising!
