One of the things we pride ourselves on is being self sufficient. We haven't owned a vehicle in over 3 years!! How's that for green living?! The three of us each have a bike and that's how we get around. For the mini human it was time to invest in a 26" bike. This is one she should have for a long time!! Yes, grocery shopping is interesting but overall, we find the exercise fun! It's easy to keep our spending habits down due to the fact that we aren't driving around using up all those fossil fuels to find more things to buy, buy buy!
Living aboard has given us some new ways of thinking AND living. In what ways do you keep green?

Do you have a basket on the bike for grocery shopping?

Hi Mike! None of our bikes have a basket as we've found they don't hold up well in our environments. Typically, we use backpacks. We haven't lived too far (at least less than 2 miles)from the nearest grocery store and sometimes make more than one trip/bus/cab depending on the mount of provisioning. Besides, you'd be surprised how awesome the cruising community/people will be by offering rides or even lending a car!! Checked out your blog, we look forward to more of your posts! Yeah, I guess backpacks would make much better sense. Enthusiasm of newbies?! That's awesome....I guess we are pretty enthusiastic. We're SO ready to go right now. It's a bummer to have to wait 3 years, but it definitely gives us time to research and plan in the meantime.
